Famous Pakistani Artist Rashid Rana’s work titled “Red carpet Series # 1” for ABRAAJ was auctioned for the highest price of Rs 34.4 million (200,000 £) among all the art works by Pakistani artists in an auction held in London. The second highest among Pakistanis was late Sadequain’s untitled work which was sold for Rs 12 million (75,000 pound sterling).

Rashid Rana is viewed as a standout amongst the most popular and imaginative specialists of his age from South Asia. His works have been sold at high costs including ‘Red Carprt 1’ which was auctioned at Sotheby’s New York at an incredible cost of 623,000 USD. Rashid Rana, who has worked in artistic creations, treated steel models/sculptures , video establishment, photograph figures and photograph mosaics, has exhibited his works in different renowned areas including British Museum – London, Metropolitan Museum – New York and Fukuoka Museum – Japan. In acknowledgment of his accomplishments, Rashid Rana was granted the Asia Art Award by Asia Society.

Rashid Rana is a founding faculty and the current dean of the School of Visual arts and Design at Beaconhouse National University.
